Firstly, don't use frames.  A lot of the search engines do not like them or do not read in your site properly if you do use frames. 
If you must use frames, make a couple of pages that do not have frames to use when you submit to the search engines, if you cannot be found, no-one will come. 

Build your site, try to use a fair amount of words in the body of your lead in pages, but try to keep them honed on the topic of your web site and what it stands for.  META TAGs play an important part also, do not try repeating keywords or tricking the search engines, they can usually tell you are doing this and it will effect your ranking at the search engines. 

META TAGs are read in by most of the major search engines on the internet, once your page is submitted, they will spider your page.  This basically means they will take a copy of your web page and store it at their site.  Your META TAGs will form your Title, Description and influence which keywords your site is found under.  AMeta can read and write META TAGs directly to HTML files. 

Once your site is built you will need a tool such as SubmitWolf, it can submit your site to the search engines and also check to see where you rank on any given keyword.  I have tried most of the submission tools and SubmitWolf is by far the best.  Submit your site to as many search engines and link lists as you can.  This can help, as some engines judge where your site ranks by how many other sites have links to it.  It will take between 4-6 weeks for the search engines to have you listed.  After submitting to the automatic engines in SubmitWolf, go to Yahoo (http://www.yahoo.com) and DMoz (Open Directory http://www.dmoz.org).  Explore their sites, look for the categories that you would go to if you were looking for your product.  Submit to these categories.  These two sites add each site manually, they are two big hit spinners if you manage to get listed there.  To give you an idea, Alta Vista has over 110,000,000 pages listed, while Yahoo only has 750,000.  (Yahoo now charge $299+ per year for a listing) You will also want a website ranking program to keep an eye on the search engines to see where you rank. WebPosition is one of the best.

Once the search engines have listed your site, use the Search Engine Ranking feature in SubmitWolf to check where your site ranks under the keywords that you feel are most important to your site.  If you do not rank well.  Which I would consider to be not in the top 30, take a look at the top 10 site that appeared at each engine you ranked badly.  Note the pages content, how many words, how many pictures, what the text on each page related to.  Find the links that made them come up first.  Then incorporate these ideas into your page.  You may have to make more than one promotional page to focus on each engine separately. 

Be careful not to spam the major engines, if you do, they may ban your site from their database.  This would be a disaster.  Note that the search engines will take up to 6 weeks for the search engines to update your listing.  It will take time to build a top ranking site, but the rewards can be immense. 

Create an email list of customers and allow people to sign up at your site so that you can keep bringing them back to your site to buy from you. You can use a program like BMail to manage your list and send out your emails. It is important to entice visitors to give you their email and bring them back, a very low percentage of visitors will buy from your site on the first visit.  Don't buy lists or harvest emails from the internet, it is the quickest way to have your site Black Listed.

Once you have built up at least a little traffic, search around for a few sites that have products or services that compliment or are in line with your products and services.  Approach maybe 2-5 sites, asking for them to link to you and offer them a link on your site in exchange.  Check the sites for presentation, and look for counters.  There is no point in swapping links with a site that gets 1 hit a month. 
A couple of good reciprocal links can help increase your traffic immensely and it brings quality customers who are looking for your type of product or service.  Don't forget that it works both ways, give your best links to sites that send you the best traffic, if you don't they may take your link down because you are not sending them any traffic.  You can also create a link page called a Reciprocal Link Page where sites that link to you on their link pages can be listed. A program to manage the links and check that these sites still link back to you like ALink is handy.

Then, once you have built up some real traffic at your site, earn some real revenue with ValueClick they pay up to 12 to 25 cents per click through and they have really looked after the webmasters that are in their program. They will take your site if you have 15,000 hits per month or more. This really is a good, hastle free way of generating money from your traffic.
